User stories
VidiView supports various clinical operations, and we regularly meet medical staff who use VidiView in their daily work. Their experiences and descriptions of their procedures are very interesting, and through these user stories, we want to showcase their work and methods. The material is mainly from Scandinavia, so it’s in Nordic languages, but all videos have English subtitles.

Mobile solution for patient-safe image documentation creates a successful workflow for Region Värmland
The collaboration between the region and Distributed Medical began when VidiView Server was introduced in 2017 as intermediate storage for media material used in surgical documentation. Interest in VidiView grew when the medical technology department identified its potential for documenting patient examinations in clinics such as ENT and cystoscopy. VidiView Controller was implemented in 2018, marking the starting point for securely managing media material in examination rooms across the region’s numerous departments.
The latest expansion within the region came with VidiView Capture. With Capture, the region acquired a mobile app solution for managing patient-near image and video examinations. The app quickly gained traction, and a key driver for its increasing use was the ability to document patient examinations at healthcare centres across the region. Now, staff in operating rooms, clinics, and healthcare centres could use the same solution for image and video documentation.
One of the reasons VidiView is so appreciated is its flexibility. The system can handle advanced operating rooms as well as simpler examination rooms. It can also be used in healthcare centres and mobile units. This solution is truly adapted for the entire region, says Marie Moberg from medical technology.
The medical technology department within the region also sees additional benefits with VidiView as they summarize their evaluation of the system and its merits within the organisation. Marie and Bo elaborate:
What makes the administration appreciate VidiView is primarily its simplicity in administration and the direct contact we have with the supplier, Distributed Medical. Support is always readily available and we can get assistance quickly and effectively when needed, says Marie Moberg from medical technology department.
But simplicity isn’t everything. The goal within the organisation is to make VidiView the common platform for all video and media management in the region. This way, the region can ensure that all video material is handled in a patient-safe manner and that all relevant media is available in patient medical records, says Bo Nilsson, operations manager for medical technology.
With VidiView, Region Värmland has not only found a popular solution for many types of patient-near image and video examinations but also established a reliable platform for future development and collaboration across the region’s healthcare departments.

Region Värmland leads the way with widespread implementation of medical image management
Thanks to the widespread implementation of the VidiView software solution from Distributed Medical, Region Värmland has developed a groundbreaking approach to secure medical image management. The region now highlights the benefits of this implementation and how they handle their medical image material safely and efficiently. This work serves as a model for other regions on how to future-proof image management, enhance patient safety, and improve patient referrals.
